Tender skipped for Macau logistics project

Kerry Logistics and Citic Pacific's trading arm Dah Chong Hong have been invited by the Macau government to take part in building and operating the former Portuguese enclave's largest logistics centre, the South China Morning Post reported. "It's a very sensitive project since the Macau government did not go through an open tender for the logistics centre, which may arouse disagreement from local businessmen," a source said. The facility, to be built on 300,000 square feet of reclaimed land near the city's airport and designed mainly for the logistics of replenishing Macau's hotels and casinos, is scheduled to be completed in 2009, the source said. Sources said the government would offer the land at a low price due to its special purpose. A Dah Chong Hong spokesman said the project was under negotiation. Kerry Logistics declined to comment.
