Textile profits rise 38.7%

China's textile industry reported profits of US$1.4 billion in the first two months of 2007, up 38.7% from the same period last year. Statistics from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) stated that the added value of the textile industry grew 17.9% year-on-year in the January-February period, state media reported. Textile exports were buoyant in the first two months of the year, growing 30% to outstrip the predicted 15-20%.
