Top finance officials to miss G7 talks

China's finance minister and central bank governor will miss a weekend meeting of finance officials from the Group of Seven major economies in Washington due to domestic commitments. Beijing has sent Vice Finance Minister Li Yong to the meeting instead, according to the Finance Ministry's international department, Reuters reported. Finance Minister Jin Renqing and Central Bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan are too busy with domestic matters, according to an official from the Finance Ministry. He declined to comment on what meetings Li will attend. This followed news from a German finance ministry official Tuesday that China had declined an invitation to take part in talks on the global economy at the G7 gathering.
