New Party chief for Tianjin

Zhang Gaoli was elected secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on Saturday, according to the People's Daily . Zhang, born in November 1946, was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the 9th CCP Tianjin Municipal Committee held in Tianjin Municipality. Zhang, a native of Jinjiang, Fujian province, joined the Party in 1973. He has served as secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee since March this year and is now a member of the 16th CCP Central Committee.
