Health-care reform talks held

An seminar assessing reform schemes in China's health care sector was held in Beijing from May 29-30, reported 21st Century Economic Reports (in Chinese). The meeting was hosted by the National Development and Reform Committee, heads of the ministries of health, finance and labor and social security. A total of eight proposals, contributed by local and international institutions including the World Health Organization, McKinsey, the World Bank, the Development Research Center of the State Council, Beijing University, Fudan University and Beijing Model University were presented. The attendants said the final program should strike a balance between being government-controlled and market-oriented.
