The State Council has released regulations for China's industrial associations, according to the Economic Observer (in Chinese). Hu Deping, vice chairman of the United Front Work Department of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee, announced the new regulations at the 2007 Chinese Merger and Acquisition Annual Conference in Tianjin yesterday. The regulations, said Hu, urge Chinese industrial associations to break away from governmental organization and operate according to market principles. Associations should act as a bridge between government and enterprises, he added.
