Green plans for Beibu Gulf

Calls were made for the building of a "green economic zone" in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone in southwest China at a high-profile seminar in Beihai, Guangxi region earlier this week, according to Sohu. Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the seminar and called for enhanced environmental protection, energy-saving and frugal land use. The Beibu Gulf Economic Zone covers six coastal cities along the Beibu Gulf in Guangxi, integrating the cities of regional capital Nanning, Beihai, Qinzhou, Fangchenggang, Chongzuo and Yulin.
