Tianjin court president in corruption probe

Tianjin's Higher Court president is being investigated for corruption, the South China Morning Post reported. Zhang Baifeng, 64, is being investigated for alleged bribery, among other infidelities, by officials from the Communist Party's top anti-corruption body, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI). Zhang's investigation is the city's second corruption scandal this month. Last Monday the chairman of the city's Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference committed suicide after talking with CCDI officials. Song Pingshun, 61, had served as the city's police chief, vice-mayor and the party's Tianjin Political and Law Committee secretary.
