Zhejiang gets new Party chief

Zhao Hongzhu was elected secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) last Saturday, Xinhua reported (in Chinese). Zhao, born in July 1947 and a native of Ningcheng, Inner Mongolia, was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the 12th Zhejiang Provincial Committee of CPC held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang's capital, last Saturday. Zhao had been appointed to the post by the CCP Central Committee in a decision made in late March, to replace Xi Jinping, who was appointed secretary of the CCP Shanghai Municipal Committee earlier this year.
