Beijing air quality hits 7-year low

Air quality in Beijing in June was the worst recorded for the month in the past seven years, authorities said on Saturday, Xinhua reported (in Chinese). Pollution was mainly caused by by local car exhaust, while the burning of crops in neighboring provinces was also blamed. Beijing has aimed for 245 "blue sky" days in 2007, though it recorded only 110 days in the first six months of the year.
