Air China announced the resignation of Sun Yude, the state-owned carrier's 53-year-old vice president, Guangzhou Daily reported (in Chinese). Sun was the second Air China excutive to resign this year. He will be succeeded by Li Huxiao, former managing director of Air China Cargo, a joint venture between CITIC Pacific, Air China and Beijing Capital Airport Group. Li's promotion is seen by some industry analysts as a move to strengthen the Air China's cargo business, which is under the fierce competition from international express experts such as UPS, Fedex and many local cargo carriers.
