Shanda buys Chengdu game company

Online game operator Shanda Interactive Entertainment has acquired Chengdu Aurora Technology Development, according to Guangzhou Daily (in Chinese). Both sides declined to disclose the value of the transaction, but it was rumored to be over US$10 million. Peng Haitao, the 23-year-old managing director of Aurora, will enter the managing group of Shanda. The acquisition of Aurora, which operates two popular 3-D massively multiplayer online games, is hoped to expand Shanda's user base.
