22 mainland companies on Fortune Global 500

Twenty-two mainland companies made it onto the 2007 Fortune Global 500 list published yesterday - an all-time high, Xinhua reported (in Chinese). State-owned oil and chemical giant Sinopec the top-ranked Chinese company on the list at 17, marking the first time a Chinese company has broken the top 20. China National Petroleum Corpration (24) and State Grid (29) were also listed on the top 50. Other mainland companies on the list include Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (170), China Mobile (180), Bank of China (192) and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (402).
