The Beijing Olympic organizing committee has said it will use satellites to guarantee food safety for athletes next year, the AP reported. The system, using global positioning satellites, will monitor food production, processing factories and food hygiene during the games. Safe products will be labeled with an "Olympic food safety logistics code". Some 10,500 athletes will stay in the Olympic Village next August. Meanwhile, the Financial Times reported that games' official pork supplier will rear organic-fed pigs in secret locations to give athletes hormone-free meat that would not cause them to inadvertently fail drug tests.
