China-made hotel toothpaste recalled

Gilchrist & Soames has announced a recall of toothpaste the company distributes to luxury hotels around the world after diethylene glycol, a chemical found in antifreeze, were found in the product, the Wall Street Journal reported. The toothpaste, made by Ming Fai Enterprises International, was recalled from hotels in 16 countries after multiple rounds of lab testing revealed traces of the chemical. The US Food and Drug Administration said it is not aware of any US reports of poisonings from the toothpaste. Early last month, millions of contaminated China-manufactured toothpaste tubes were recalled in Japan. The incident is the latest of several recent recalls of China-made food and non-food products in other countries in recent months.
