Chinese officials investigated 24,879 commercial corruption cases in the first half of this year, of which 5,523, or 22.2%, involved government officials, state media reported. Authorities are cracking down on bribery cases, with 125 new local regulations against commercial bribery introduced through June. The State Council is revising and amending several laws, including those on unfair competition and construction, in an effort to provide a firmer legal basis for the clampdown.
