NDRC encourages clean power

Energy

29 August 2007

The National Development and Reform Commission has announced that China's power grid will begin favoring power energy-efficient and clean-power producers when controlling the transmission of electricity, Economic Observer reported (in Chinese). Priority will be determined according to power producers' energy consumption levels. This means that wind, solar, tidal, atomic and other clean power sources will be encouraged, while coal-burning power plants with high emissions and resource consumption - especially small ones - will be given lower precedence.
