Mattel issues third toy recall

Mattel announced a third recall of China-made toys on September 4, the Wall Street Journal reported. About 775,000 toys from its Barbie brand were recalled because of unsafe levels of lead paint. Additionally, some 100,000 Fisher-Price brand toys, designed for young children, were also recalled. Mattel said it was no longer working with several Chinese subcontractors after investigations were carried out. The toy company issued two recalls in August, both for dangerous lead paint levels. The boss of an implicated toy company committed suicide after the first recall. New York Senator Charles Schumer said the latest incident showed that China has "virtually no regulations." Chinese companies manufacture about a third of Mattel's toys.
