China reiterated its commitment to resolving toy safety concerns on Thursday after yet more recalls of Chinese-made products in the US, AFP reported. US retailer Target announced a voluntary recall of 350,000 gardening tools and children's lawn furniture, claiming they contained excessive levels of lead. Another US firm, RC2 Corp, has recalled five types wooden toy train items made in China, citing high lead content in the paint. Ministry of Commerce spokesman Wang Xinpei said every effort would be made to resolve the problems "according to the facts," which was seen by some as an allusion to China's belief that it has become a scapegoat in the product safety crisis. Last week, US toy giant Mattel apologized for its recent spate of recalls. It said that the precautionary action was largely due to design flaws for which the company was responsible.
