China and India tie in corruption ranking

China and India share 72nd place out of 180 countries ranked for perceptions of corruption by Transparency International, state media reported. Countries and regions are ranked on a scale from zero to 10, with zero indicating the worst perceived corruption. China scored 3.5 this year, an increase of 0.2 from last year. China ranked 70 out og 163 countries and regions last year. The group said China's score had improved due to reforms in the judiciary, financial systems and personnel systems. The formation of the National Bureau of Corruption Prevention also helped. Somalia and Myanmar are perceived to be the most corrupt nations this year, with a score of 1.4, while Denmark, Finland and New Zealand form a triumvirate of the cleanest countries, with scores of 9.4. Hong Kong ranks 14th and Taiwan 34th.
