China's air defense radar network is now almost on par with those in developed countries, the New York Times reported. The announcement coincided with Taiwan's first National Day military parade in 16 years. The official military newspaper reported that a seamless network of all-weather air defense radars had been installed to cover all of China's airspace. The network could be used to assist in offensive operations, the report said, and poses a challenge to Taiwan, which is seeking ways to counter the mainland's rapidly modernizing military in the event of an attack.
