China reveals space development plans

China revealed plans for the development of its space program Thursday, which include space walking, spacecraft docking and the launching of a space laboratory before 2010, AFP reported. According to a document in the country's 11th five-year plan, the government will also give priority to developing an Earth observation system and improve a navigation system based on plans to launch dozens of satellites to provide navigation and positioning services to aid areas such as transportation, meteorology, disaster forecasting. The country plans to launch its first lunar orbiter at the end of this month, and is planning a series of robotic missions in addition to building a lunar base after 2020.
