China's consumer price index (CPI), a key measure of inflation, eased slightly to 6.2% in September from an 11-year high of 6.5% in August, said Zhu Zhixin, deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), at a press conference at the 17th Communist Party Congress on Thursday, Xinhua reported (in Chinese). Zhu ruled out the possibility of sweeping price hikes in the future, but predicted that prices for farm produce, which triggered the CPI's sharp rise and sparked inflation concerns, would continue to maintain at high level.
