A strategic stockpile system for minor metals will be set up in China, the South China Morning Post reported. The mainland is rich in minor metals such as tungsten and tin, but growing production for export has resulted in more pollution and low utilization of the resources. The government is working out details on the stockpiles, but the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association is lobbying for legal status over the use of the metals so it can set up a conservation system tp strengthen import and export management. The proposed metal reserve will become China's third strategic reserve after grain and oil.
