Chinese tech firms sign Rwanda deals

Two leading Chinese telecommunications equipment makers have signed agreements with Rwanda in separate bids to explore the African nation's telecom market, Xinhua reported (in Chinese). Huawei donated telecommunication equipment to the Rwandan government valued at US$130,000 in a gesture to "help develop" the country's technological infrastructure. ZTE signed a framework agreement to help Rwanda develop telecom infrastructure. Lou Qinjian, China's deputy minister of information industry, and Albert Butare, Rwanda's minister of energy and communication, were present at the signing ceremony in Kigali.
