Pension fund seeks private equity buy

China's pension fund is seeking opportunities to invest in international private equity, China Business Features reported (in Chinese). The Social Security Fund (SSF) held preliminary talks with target institutions including Carlyle, Silver Lake and Texas Pacific Group. The SSF recently issued a report to the Ministry of Finance asking to expand its investment ranges on overseas market, according to sources cited by the newspaper. The fund, which has US$38 billion in total assets, has invested US$16 billion in overseas stocks and bonds through qualified institutions since the end of 2006.
