Haier builds new overseas R&D centers

Chinese electronics appliance producer Haier announced it will set up production research and development centers in Seoul and Tokyo, Economic Observer reported (in Chinese). The projects were approved by the National Development and Reform Commission on Tuesday. Haier has been shifting its focus internationally from brand development to technological innovation. The new centers will be dedicated to developing Haier's line of family-tailored appliances, U-home. Haier currently has 11 R&D centers overseas.
