The UK embassy in China announced that it will provide carbon sequestration technology to China under a new joint clean-energy project, Economic Observer reported (in Chinese). UK deputy ambassador Barbara Woodward and Li Yanhua, China's vice minister of science, formally inaugurated the Near-Zero Emission Coal project, which will last 18 months in all. The UK will provide US$7.2 million in financial support for the project, which aims to reduce 85% of greenhouse gas emissions in major coal-burning facilities.
