The Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) held a exhibition to attract commodity imports from suppliers in Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe, Economic Observer reported (in Chinese). Sixteen countries and over 150 companies participated the event. The ministry provided free booths to overseas commodities merchants in a bid to attract foreign goods and expand trade with these countries, said Feng Hongzhang, director of MOFCOM's foreign trade development division. Feng added that China would continue to hold similar fairs as it aims to balance its growing trade surplus.
