China, US to sign new product safety pacts
4 December 2007
China and the US are expected to sign new safety agreements on China's exports of food, animal feed, drugs and medical devices next week, Reuters reported. The announcement came from US Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt, who described China's food inspection process as much stronger than the screening process for drugs and medical devices. He did not announce when the new agreements, which are still being finalized, would come into effect.
