Cut in mobile phone roaming fees to be discussed

The National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Imformation Industry have announced that an open hearing on a potential reduction in domestic mobile phone roaming fees will be held in the middle of January, Chinese Securities News reported (in Chinese). Consumers, operators, experts and related authorities will all be represented at the hearing. The current roaming fee ranges from US$0.08 to US%0.11 per minute. Guotai Junan Securities said in a research report that it expects to see a 25% reduction in fees.
