Beijing may raise tertiary industries' power bills

Beijing's main municipal planning body has proposed a plan that will increase electricity prices for businesses in tertiary sectors such as finance and telecommunications, Beijing Business Today reported (in Chinese). Liang Changxin, a commissioner of the Beijing Development and Reform Commission, told a press conference on Monday that the exact price adjustment must be approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The plan is aimed at bringing utility prices for tertiary-sector companies in the capital, which currently pay US$0.09 per kilowatt-hour for electricity, in line with other industries, which pay slightly higher prices.
