Chinese economist rumored as next World Bank VP

Chinese economist Justin Lin may be appointed the World Bank's senior vice president and chief economist, China Business Net reported (in Chinese) citing to a person close to the situation. The rumor has not been confirmed by the World Bank or by Lin himself. The post has been open for the past several months since the departure the bank's last chief economist, Francois Bourguignon. Lin, who earned his doctorate in economics at the University of Chicago in the 1980s, currently serves as director of the China Center of Economic Research at Peking University.
