Work safety official wants whistleblowers

China's top work safety official urged the public and the media to expose workplace accidents to end corruption and other abuses, AP reported. Li Yizhong, the head of the State Administration of Work Safety, said public exposure of incidents would give investigators important clues. He also gave details of investigations into five high-profile accidents, including a coal mine explosion and a bridge collapse in Hunan province. "In publicizing the results of these five investigations, we wish to subject them to public and media scrutiny," Li said. Li has a reputation as an outspoken advocate of workplace safety.
