Japan 'frustrated' in dumpling probe

Japanese officials expressed frustration with Chinese police in an investigation of dumplings contaminated with pesticides imported to Japan that affected at least 10 people, the Financial Times reported. While Tokyo has not formally requested evidence from Chinese police, a Japanese diplomat called for information and cooperation from China, saying, "This has not escalated into a diplomatic situation - yet. But if the Chinese government does not cooperate in handing over evidence or information, then it could." Beijing has said it is seeking to establish whether the dumplings were contaminated before reaching Japan. Japan's health ministry recalled the Hebei province-produced Tianyang dumplings earlier this month after illnesses resulting from eating them caused a panic.
