Trade surplus with US fell 6.7% in January

China's trade surplus with the US in fell 6.7% year-on-year in January to US$12.1 billion amid fears of a US recession, the AP reported, citing Chinese customs data. Exports to the US grew by 5.4% in January to US$19.2 billion. Chinese imports of US goods grew by 12.2% to US$7.1 billion. Meanwhile, China's trade surplus with the European Union in January grew by 42% to US$13.7 billion. China released data on its January global trade surplus in February, but did not provide a regional breakdown.
