Foreign investment in China increased by 38.3% in February compared to a year earlier, reaching US$6.9 billion, according to the Commerce Ministry, AP reported. In January, foreign investment had doubled to US$11.2 billion. The government said January's rise was unusual and probably caused by companies trying to prevent exchange-rate losses as the yuan strengthened. The investment figures exclude the financial industries. The number of foreign-financed projects reached 1,454 in February compared to a year ago, rising by 38%. Total direct foreign investment in China last year increased 13.8% to US$82.7 billion.
