China will introduce new rules for lotteries in response to reports of gambling addictions, bankruptcies and suicides among betters, AFP reported. A draft of the new national regulation says that betters cannot buy lottery tickets with credit cards and that minors are barred from playing. If the new rules are endorsed by the legislature, they would be China's first regulation on lotteries, which were introduced in 1987. Public opinion is being solicited for the draft rules until March 28. The final rules will probably be released later this year. Gambling, with the exception of the lottery, is officially banned in China.
