Wen to shake up cabinet posts
17 March 2008
Premier Wen Jiabao is to name new appointees to the State Council today, including the heads of the five new "super-ministries," the South China Morning Post reported. Wen, who was re-elected for his second and final five-year term at the National People's Congress, is expected to signal change with his appointments of relatively young and unknown officials to top roles. Among the anticipated leadership changes are Zhang Ping to head the National Development and Reform Commission, Cai Wu, formerly director of the State Council Information Office, as minister of culture, Li Yizhong as the new head of the Ministry of Industry and Information, and former Vice Minister of Construction Jiang Wenxin as the head of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Township Construction.
