Singapore Airlines said it was still in talks with China Eastern Airlines over the acquisition of a stake in the mainland carrier, Reuters reported, citing a Singapore Airlines spokesman. Stephen Forshaw said Singapore Airlines would "continue a dialogue" with China Eastern, but added that the Chinese airline would decide when and how the Singapore carrier would present a new offer to China Eastern shareholders. Singapore Airline's bid for a stake in China Eastern was rejected by shareholders in January after Air China made a counter-offer. China Eastern then rejected a proposed tie-up with Air China. Singapore Airlines is the world's second-largest carrier in market value.
