Wholesale prices climb 10.3% in April

China's wholesale price index, which tracks changes in the price of commodities traded on wholesale markets, was up 10.3% year-on-year in April, state media reported. Prices of iron and rolled steel rose 3% and 3.2% month-on-month, respectively, while coal, oil and electricity prices went up by an average of 2.3%. Vegetable, edible oil and non-ferrous metal prices all fell, with vegetable prices falling by 8.1% from March. The consumer price index for April rose 8.5% year-on-year in April, compared to and 8.3% rise in March and a 12-year-high rise of 8.7% in February.
