Dalai Lama: Tibetans losing faith in talks

The Dalai Lama fears losing the support of his followers in Tibet because of Beijing's refusal to negotiate with him over the future of the territory. Speaking to the Financial Times, the Dalai Lama said Tibetans have recently showed "clear signs of frustration" with the lack of progress he has made in talks with the Chinese government. "There are many Tibetans who have the view that our non-violent approach is not having an effect," he said. Representatives for the Tibetan spiritual leader are scheduled to meet with Chinese authorities next month. The two sides met for a one day of talks earlier this month, on May 4.
