China's securities industry will be studied for ways to further open it, the China Securities Regulatory Commission said, Reuters reported. The securities regulator made the statement through its website, saying that it would assess government policy in order to open up securities operations and capital markets in a "practical and realistic manner." The statement comes days before the year's first session of the US-China Strategic Economic Dialog, a key meeting between the countries held twice yearly. In the past, US Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson has pushed for China to open its financial markets to foreign competition.
