The US State Department said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit earthquake-damaged regions of China later in June, AP reported. The visit, to come toward the end of a trip to Europe and Asia, would make Rice the highest-ranking US official to visit the area. Rice plans to meet with Chinese officials and representatives of aid organizations in Chengdu. The State Department called the visit "a show of sympathy and support for those people that have been affected by [the earthquake]."
