China revised its energy-efficiency figure for 2007, saying energy usage per unit of GDP declined by 3.66% rather than the 3.27% originally tallied, the South China Morning Post reported. The revised figure is still short of the 4% annual reduction target set in 2005. According to a report from the National Bureau of Statistics, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Bureau, 21 of China's provinces and municipalities hit the 4% target. Nine provinces, including Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hunan and Xinjiang, did not. Beijing made the largest improvement, reducing energy consumption per GDP unit by 6% last year.
