Internet cafes required to switch to Chinese OS

Internet cafes in the southern city of Nanchang are being required to remove pirated operating systems from their machines and replace them with China's Red Flag Linux operating system in an attempt to crack down on pirated software, AP reported, citing a Radio Free Asia report. New rules allow legal copies of Microsoft Windows to be installed, but some cafe owners allege that the implementation of the rule excludes Windows. The rules, which will reportedly make it easier for authorities to regulate internet cafes, have raised concerns that users will come under increased surveillance.
