Shenzhen to build more 5-star hotels

In an effort to become a global tourist destination, Shenzhen is aiming to increase the number of 5-star hotels from 12 to 32 by 2010.

The southern city in Guangdong province received nearly 58 million visitors last year, 21 million of whom stayed overnight. Li Xiaogan from Shenzhen’s tourism department said, “Shenzhen would promote its image as a young metropolis and seaside resort” to attract more international tourists.
