Shangri-La Ningbo appoints senior managers

Mr Lim Boon KweeShangri-La Hotel, Ningbo is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2008 (exact date not yet confirmed) and it has announced who’ll be running the place.

Lim Boon Kwee (pictured) — General Manager. Previously GM of Shangri-La Golden Flower, Xian. He is a Singapore national and has worked in the hospitality industry for over 23 years. Held senior management positions at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Sedona Hotels International and InterContinental Hotels.

Darren Wong — in charge of the money as Financial Controller. Has 20 years’ experience at Marco Polo Hotels Group (Hong Kong). Founded the Hotel Controller and Accountants Association of Hong Kong.

Rachel Zhou — Director of Marketing. Joined Shangri-La group in 1992 and has since worked at its hotels in Xian, Changchun and Changzhou.

The hotel lies in Ningbo’s commercial district and will have 564 guestrooms, four restaurants and bars, and over 6,000 square meters of MICE facilities. Ningbo is a port city in the south Yangtze Delta Region in Zhejiang province. Shangri-La already has one other property in Zhejiang — Shangri-La Hotel, Hangzhou.

New appointment for Radisson Plaza Xing Guo

Gabriel PoliasThere’s a new F&B Director at the Radisson Plaza Xing Guo Hotel in Shanghai (part of Carlson Hotels Worldwide). Australian Gabriel Polias has joined the Radisson with 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He has previously worked in several five-star hotels in Sydney.

New GM for Hyatt Regency Xi’an

Adam SimkinsThe Hyatt Regency Xi’an recently appointed Adam Simkins as its new general manager (pictured right). Simkins joined the Hyatt International group in 1993 and has worked in several of its properties across the Asia Pacific region.

The 404-room hotel was built in 1990 and is located in Xi’an’s central shopping district. It has extensive meeting facilities - a large ballroom and five function rooms and a Club Zen Fitness Centre and Spa.

New GM for Sheraton Wuxi

Richard DeutlThe Sheraton Wuxi Hotel & Towers has appointed a new GM, Richard Deutl, to join its team in Wuxi, Jiangsu province. He has 25 years experience in the hotel industry, 18 of which were spent with Starwood, the hotel group which owns, among others, the Sheraton hotel brand. Before this post, Deutl worked for the Sheraton in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The Sheraton Wuxi is made up of two towers with an integrated shopping mall and several restaurants.
