JAL Hotels has announced that the company has signed a hotel management agreement on with Shanghai Yuchang Real Estate Development to open a five-star Hotel Nikko Shanghai in March, 2009.

The new hotel will be located at the corner of Shanghai Puxi area’s main road, Yan An West Road and Zhen Ning Road.

The hotel will be a part of Manpo International Plaza, a newly developed commercial real estate complex. It will be a five-star hotel with 388 guest rooms in a 23-story building above ground and two stories in the basement, which will occupy a total of 47,724 square meters.

In addition to Hotel Nikko Shanghai, two luxury condominium buildings and a luxury office building will be built in the Manpo International Plaza. It is only a 25-minute-drive from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.

Japan Airlines opened a round-trip, twice-daily air route including code sharing with China Eastern Airlines between Shanghai Hongqiao and Haneda Tokyo Airport in September 2007. Thus this is a great fit for JAL Hotels.

The company already has the Nikko Hotel, Dalian, shown in our illustration. Further, this year, the company opened the 373-room Hotel Nikko Tianjin in Tianjin. Future openings include the 500-room Hotel Nikko Wuxi in 2009.

In plenty of time for Expo 2010 — which will be a lot bigger than you can imagine with more than 50 million people attending — Nikko Hotels International has a five-star luxury hotel for Shanghai, scheduled to open in March 2009.

Hotel Nikko Shanghai will be in Manpo International Plaza, a real estate complex now being built that will have two luxury condominium buildings and a luxury office building. The complex is at the corner of Shanghai Puxi area’s main road, Yan An West Road and Zhen Ning Road.

It will have 388 guest rooms in a 25-story building. It will be a MICE hotel with all the usual goodies including a pool, fitness center and spa.
Shanghai Yuchang Real Estate Development, the owner of the hotel, is a leading real estate developer in Shanghai and is also handling the development of Manpo International Plaza.

Nikko Hotels International is an international luxury hotel group operated by JAL Hotels, a subsidiary of Japan Airlines. JAL Hotels has 64 hotels with 20,703 rooms worldwide, in Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and throughout Japan and the Asia/Pacific region and they are pretty much focussed on making the business traveler comfortable.

Hotel Nikko Tianjin, a new five-star-level hotel is the latest addition to the Nikko Hotels International group. Nikko Hotels International chain is operated by JAL Hotels and works hand-in-hand with the Japanese airline.

Hotel Nikko Tianjin is on Tianjin’s main boulevard, Nanjing Avenue and is 22 stories high. It has Tianjin’s largest banquet room plus five meeting rooms which makes it very much a MICE hotel. It also has six restaurants, a business center, indoor pool and a spa and fitness center. Altogether there are 373 guest rooms.

Nikko Hotels International plans to open the 373-room Hotel Nikko Tianjin next month. This hotel will be excellently placed for transportation being directly connected to new stations of subway lines No.1 and No.3 to be opened next year. The hotel is only 30 minutes by car from Tianjin International Airport.

The hotel will be built as part of an existing commercial complex ‘The Exchange’ on Tianjin’s main boulevard, Nanjing Road. Like all Nikko luxury hotels it will have all the facilities such as restaurants, a bar, a banquet hall, an indoor pool, a business center, and, more and more important these days, a spa and fitness room.

JAL Hotels development of the Hotel Nikko Tianjin in Tianjin is nearing completion with an opening scheduled for the middle of this year.
The hotel will be part of an existing commercial complex, ‘The Exchange,’ on Tianjin’s main boulevard, Nanjing Avenue. The hotel will occupy the building’s first floor, sixth to 22nd floors, and three floors on the basement level.

The city has been selected to provide a venue for football for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Japan Airlines currently has two flights weekly to Tianjin from Central Japan International Airport, and the number of passengers is expected to keep growing,
