Grand opening for Shangri-la Suzhou

shangrila suzhouThe Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou has now had it grand opening. It is the first international deluxe hotel in Suzhou’s National New and Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone. The hotel, which is especially suited for MICE as in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions, provides 390 spacious rooms and suites.

There are 100 rooms in the Horizon Club plus a Horizon Club Lounge on the 48th floor with sweeping views of the city. And six restaurants offering a range of Asian cuisines and a Club Red Bar with upbeat music.

This is very much a MICE hotel with meeting and banquet facilities including a 1,310 square meter pillarless Grand Ballroom with a ceiling height of eight meters. This can hold up to 1,200 guests for cocktail receptions or 800 for dinner banquets. There is also the 478 square-meter Metropolitan Ballroom, an auditorium and five function rooms.

Shangri-La joins Expedia

ShnagriLaBeinjing lobby 1All Shangri-La hotels and resorts are now available through Expedia which means that customers can do their booking through what is possibly the world’s online travel company.

As part of the agreement, Shangri-La gains access to marketing and merchandising opportunities to reach the more than 60 million unique monthly visitors worldwide to Expedia’s Web sites.

Shangri-La again named best brand

shangrilahotelA recent poll organized by Business Traveller China, the Chinese edition of the Business Traveller magazine, has named Shangri-La, a leading luxury hotel group in the Asia-Pacific region, the best hotel brand in China. Its franchise in Changchun, capital of Jilin Province, was named the best business hotel of the city for its quality facilities and services. It is the second consecutive year the Changchun Shangri-La has won the award.

Since its debut in China in 2002, the magazine has conducted two such polls among its readers, who are mainly frequent travellers.

Situated in downtown Changchun, the hotel is close to shops and local amenities. The Changchun Longjia International Airport and the Changchun Railway Station are within reach, at 50 and 15 minutes’ drive respectively.
